We all love the feeling of freshly washed bedding and clean clothes. However, we are often unsure how frequently we should clean our bedding and garments that require extra care.
Suits, coats, and bedding require special care, and it’s common to ask, “How long can we go before washing them?” Let’s explore how to handle these items professionally to ensure our clothes and textiles maintain their quality for a long time.
Cleaning a suit – The secret to lasting elegance
The suit is the garment for special occasions and business meetings. That’s why it’s important that it’s always in impeccable condition when you need it. What can happen to it even if you don’t wear it every day? Besides spills or stains from accidental knocks, there are also several invisible contaminants. For example, lingering food odors, sweat, or if you wear it with a casual T-shirt, sweat at the neckline, perfume, and body lotion residues can all soak into the fabric. Every day you reach into your pockets, fasten your pants, buckle your belt—these may not be visible at first, but over time the oils from skin and creams oxidize, leaving yellowish-brown marks. On women’s blazers or suits, the marks from bag straps are also noticeable, especially if the straps have metal parts.
How often should you clean it?
Generally, it is recommended to take your suit to the cleaners after 3–4 wears, but at the latest every one to two months. Of course, if there is a visible stain, it should be cleaned immediately.
What else is the benefit of regular cleaning? Regular professional cleaning not only removes stains but also prevents the fabric from stretching excessively during wear, helping your suit maintain its original shape and structure.
Coat Cleaning – The Big Question at the Change of Seasons
Coats accompany us through multiple seasons, which means they are exposed to the full range of weather: rain, snow, wind – all of which leave their mark.
What can happen to it?
Just think about it: Have you ever gotten soaked in the rain? Been splashed by a passing car with muddy, salty water? Juggled grocery bags with both hands while trying to reach for your keys in your pocket to open the car trunk? Can you already see the mark of your bag’s shoulder strap? Has your little child ever grabbed the bottom of your coat with slightly dirty hands?
Have you ever tossed it onto a slightly dirty chair? Sweated in it while walking through the store? Basically, anything can happen to a coat. Stains can appear immediately, after a few weeks the smell may become noticeable, or over time you may see yellowed or darkened cuffs, collar, pocket flaps, or a white-spotted hem.
How often should you clean it?
Most coats should ideally be professionally cleaned at the change of each season, so they return to the wardrobe not just clean, but fresh as well. However, cleaning a coat isn’t only important after the season ends; it’s also essential during the season. This helps the fabric maintain its original, durable condition and ensures it stays resistant to wear and tear.
Did you know that with us, you can not only have your wool, fabric, down jackets, or sports jackets professionally cleaned, but you can also have them impregnated for extra protection?
Bedding Cleaning – It’s About More Than Just a Fresh Scent
Frequent washing of your bedding isn’t just the key to a pleasant night’s sleep—it can also impact your health.
What can happen? We won’t go into all the possibilities in bed, but one thing is certain: your skin comes into contact with it, dead skin cells accumulate, and sweat—or even viruses during the winter season—can get onto it. During the day, making your bed or covering it properly is a good habit. If you’re in a rush and skip this, your bedding will gather dust.
How often should you clean your bedding?
Washing your bedding at home weekly is, of course, good and necessary, but occasionally it’s worth taking it for a more thorough, deep cleaning. Opinions vary on the exact frequency, but on average, it’s recommended to wash bedding every 2–5 days, or at the latest, once a week. If there’s a stain, act immediately.
Important: do not choose bedding that cannot withstand washing at 60–90°C, even if you don’t use these temperatures every time. Why? Because if you’re sick, you won’t be able to disinfect it properly, and even your professional cleaner won’t be able to wash and iron it effectively.
Tip: If someone in the family is sick, change pillowcases daily!
What makes industrial cleaning different?
Depending on the material and type of stain, we adjust the washing process. Normally, we wash at 50–60°C, but for blood or other protein-based stains, we use 30°C. All our detergents are hypoallergenic, phosphate-free, and gentle on the skin. Bed linen is ironed at high temperatures, which not only gives a neat finish (quickly done with industrial calendering) but also disinfects.
Why choose Freshel? We clean clothing of all materials, sizes, and shapes, so you don’t need to sort or choose a different cleaner for each type. Bed linen to the laundromat? Suit to the dry cleaner? Shirt washed at home but sent out for ironing? Not at all. Leave everything to us—just Freshel it: order online comfortably from home, we pick it up, professionally clean it, and return it to you.
